The emergency department can be accessed through the main doors of the hospital or through a separate emergency department door. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week*.

To access the mental health mobile crisis team call 902-429-8167 or toll-free at 1-888-429-8167. This is a 24 hour, 7 days a week phone service to help you or your loved one cope with mental health and addiction challenges in the moment.

The hours of operation for Diagnostic Imaging are part-time and are subject to change on a weekly basis. Please contact 902-889-2200, option 7 for current hours of the week.

  • Diagnostic imaging will NOT be available on Thursday, April 27, Monday, May 1, and Friday, May 5.

Semi-private and Private Rooms in Nova Scotia Hospitals

  • Private room: Includes one bed and one washroom. You can find current rates here.
  • Semi-private room: Includes two beds separated by curtains and one washroom. You can find current rates here.

Space in our private and semi-private rooms is limited. The sooner we have your insurance information the more likely we are to be able to accommodate your request.

When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room.

When you are admitted, be sure to have your private insurance card with you and let the admitting clerk know you have requested a private or semi-private room.TV & Phone in your Room

TV and Phone Services

During your stay in hospital, there is no fee for phone and tv services in your room. 

Phone Service
Each patient will be given the direct dial in information to provide to those who you wish to call you directly, avoiding the need to go through a receptionist or the nursing station.

TV Service
TV and basic cable are provided.

Inpatient Meals

During your stay at the hospital, you will receive breakfast, lunch and supper daily. Meals are prepared on-site and offer a full range of dietary services to inpatients.

Daily: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and noon to 6 p.m.

Spiritual Spaces and Quiet Rooms

Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital has a quiet room for visitors and families. It is located on the inpatient unit. Requests for spiritual care can be made by patients, family members and/or any member of the inter-disciplinary health care team.
